On the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, He is God, co-eternal and consubstantial with the Father. He is the Lord and Giver of Life who spoke through the prophets. This is what we recite during the profession of faith. The Holy Spirit is a person, meaning He is someone who is capable of relationship. The main role of the Holy Spirit is the sanctification of the Church. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The soul of the Church is the Holy Spirit since after the Pentecost, Jesus gave to us the Holy Spirit who will be our Paraclete, Counselor, and Comforter. In the Sacramental life of the Church, the Holy Spirit is present who sanctifies us and makes the presence of God be made real. He is our guide in Christian life, He helps us in discerning the signs of the times. He is our guide in building up our Christian life since he dwells among us. He dwells in the Church and also in our souls, that is why all of us are temples of the Holy Spirit. As Christians, may the Holy Spirit be our guide and teacher in the way to holiness and in conforming ourselves to the image of Christ. As we follow the footsteps of Christ, we must attentively listen to the voice and be aware of the promptings of the Holy Spirit that will help us to discern better.
