Veni Sancte Spiritus

The most misunderstood Person of the Holy Trinity is probably the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, the ruah elohim (“the spirit of the Lord”). He is the “Spirit of truth,” the parakletos (advocate, defender, comforter) of the disciples just as Jesus was. He is present in every decision we made, every stirring of our hearts and in our inspiration. He is the source of it all. He is not just a dove that flees. It is not something but Someone. When Our Lord ascends to Heaven, He leaves us the Holy Spirit so that we may not be orphans but be children of God. We should always ask for the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in every decision, discernment and in times of trial.

The apostles experience the Holy Spirit, it's different for everyone. Experience God's love by the power of the Holy Spirit stir the gifts of the Holy Spirit that are within you that you had received in baptism and in confirmation. Then the love of God is being poured into our hearts, saying "I love you, you don't have to change for me to love you." We just need to be humble to say to Our Lord our sincere sorrow for our sins by going to confession.

How do we know if we experience God’s love?
We know that it’s an experience of God by its fruits, the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The tradition of the Church lists twelve of them: “charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity.” The question is not what did I experience but are you more loving and joyful? Are you becoming more like Jesus?
