The Divine Heart

Henri Nouwen says "I am called to enter into the sanctuary of my own being where God has chosen to dwell. In kneeling before God, embracing the divine heart, and listening to the depth of one's own being, one begins to see and hear things from a divine source. The call to speak from eternity into time is the fruit of prayerfulness more than the result of any particular form of prayer. The prayerfulness of the heart is deeper and ultimately more important than the particular words that are prayed. An untrained person with a simple and humble heart may pray more effectively from the heart than one who knows to use the appropriate theological language and proper forms of prayer. Merton referred heart as the center of our nothingness where, in apparent despair, one meets God and is found completely in His mercy.

Prayer of Heart
1st prayer: Your heart is open to receive anyone with total, unrestricted love
2nd prayer: Identification of His own broken heart with divine woundedness and suffering
3rd prayer: Recognize that the wounded heart of God's love is one with his own heart and with the broken heart of the world
