Be a Missionary Disciple
What does it mean to be a disciple missionary?
First of all, let’s define each term. To be a disciple is simply to be a friend of Jesus. It is to be in a loving relationship with Jesus. This relationship involves enduring affection, intimacy, and trust between you and Jesus. On the other hand, missionary is your willingness to share that friendship with others. The reason we share our relationship with others is simply that we know the joy we have in our relationship with Christ and we want others to have that. We share it as an invitation for others to experience that tremendous joy we had. Your solid relationship with Jesus will just flow naturally. The joy of your being with Jesus urges you to share that joy. The primary goal of being a disciple missionary is to make others friends of Jesus. We can see this in the original disciple of Our Lord that led them to obtain the crown of martyrdom. This is what love looks like, it's sacrificial, for Our Lord said “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24).
Why be a missionary disciple?
Be a missionary disciple because anything else makes you a miserable failure. God became human in Christ to reveal the true meaning and purpose of what a person should be. Thus, a great maxim said, "Christ reveals Man to Himself." To be a missionary disciple is our purpose in life, to share our relationship with the Lord with other people and we can only do this if we only rely on God, all for the greater glory of God.
